On Wednesday 19th May at 9.45 a.m, local author Charles Granquist will be be talking about his book “A Long Way Home” This is the story of his enlistment during World War II at the age of seventeen, his capture and imprisonment by the Germans and his numerous escape attempts. This account of his wartime [...] We had had a wonderful afternoon in Port library last Sunday with an array of colourful manga characters taking to the stage. I am now thinking I will have to read the deathnote books as so many characters came from this series. To staff at the library it sometimes feels as if there are millions of items being borrowed and returned. Well it’s official. Today Port Macquarie Library issued its five millionth item since opening in January 2000. To mark the occassion the lucky borrower, Patricia Bain, received a small gift from the library manager.
