Born during the Great depression Les struggled against adversity and discrimination. The eldest son of a family of eight, he was raised in straightened circumstances on Reserves in Karuah, Port Stephens and Purfleet. Like the ebb and flow of the waves on Rainbow Beach where he now resides, Les&#8217;s life has taken many directions. From Assistant Manager on the remote Murrin Bridge Aboriginal Station to Senior Welfare Officer at Moree, Les was recruited by Charles Perkins to join the fledgling Commonwealth Department of Affairs. Les works for the benefit of his people. He has a multitude of stories to tell and loves to share his life&#8217;s experiences. He recently addressed the Book Lovers Group at Laurieton Branch Library and his audience were totally absorbed with Les&#8217;s powerful life story which was written by John Ramsland. Add your name to the reserve list as this is well worth reading.</div>
