The Hooked with Love knitters, Joy, Anne, Phyllis and Adrienne enjoyed their Christmas get-together. Sixteen years after the passing of Fred Hollows, this exhibition, titled “In Fred’s Footsteps,” offers locals a chance to learn more about Fred’s dream of treating avoidable blindness and improving indigenous health. [ December 10, 2009; 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. ] Jeremy Tarbox will be talking at Kempsey Library about his experiences in Guatemala, where he volunteered for 10 weeks with an agricultural cooperative, living in indigenous communities focusing on organic production. He will discuss the experience of village living and the 3 projects he completed on seed harvesting, village attitudes to seed sovereignty and the [...] [ December 3, 2009; 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. ] Jeremy Tarbox will be speaking at Kempsey Library about his volunteer experiences in Cuba – a land that is famous for rum and cigars, music and dance, Revolution and Resistance.
