Date : Monday 9th November
Time : 10.00 am
Location : Port Macquarie Library Meeting Room
Don is a returned veteran of the Vietnam War, permanently disabled when his platoon was ambushed by the Viet Cong in July 1969.
His biographical work ‘The War Within’ is a compelling search for manhood by an alienated man fuelled by anger, alcohol and women, in a world where the only war heroes are the ANZACs.
Yet above all, this memoir is a celebration of the human condition, of a man with a can-do, cavalier attitude to life and his desire to rise above mediocrity.
Don Tate will be discussing his book and showing film footage of his platoon in Vietnam.
He will also be selling copies of his book on the day.
